Goal: clear all 144 tiles by removing matching pairs. Every deal here can be won.
Free tiles
You can only take a tile that is free:
- no tile lies on top of it, not even partly, and
- its left side or its right side is open. Tiles above and below it don't matter.
Turn on Dim blocked tiles in Settings (or press F) to grey out every tile you can't take yet.
Matching
Click two free tiles that are the same to remove them. Two exceptions: any Flower matches any Flower, and any Season matches any Season.
The tiles
Dots 1 to 9: count the circles.
Bamboo 1 to 9: count the sticks. The 1 is a single big stalk.
Characters 1 to 9: the Chinese numeral above 萬 ("ten thousand"). The small corner number tells you which.
Winds: East 東, South 南, West 西, North 北, with a corner letter.
Dragons: Red 中, Green 發, and White (a blue frame).
Flowers: plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, bamboo. Any two match.
Seasons: spring, summer, autumn, winter. Any two match.
Game modes and scoring
- Daily challenge (in New game): the same deal for everyone each day, on a different layout. Win it on consecutive days to build a daily streak.
- Layouts: Turtle is the classic. Fortress and Crossroads play about as easily; Pyramid and Twin Peaks start with fewer free tiles and need more planning. All use the same 144 tiles.
- Score (turn on in Settings): each pair is worth 10, multiplied by your chain: up to 5 pairs of the same suit in a row. A new hint costs 20 and a shuffle 50. Clearing the board adds 500, plus a point for every second under 15 minutes.
Tips
- Free the long rows and the tall middle stack early; they block the most tiles.
- When all four of a kind are free, take them in either pairing. When only three are free, think about which pair to take first.
